BURIALS AT SEA
(Scattering)

This day is about you, your deceased loved one,  and your surviving family and friends.  With that in mind, we will  CUSTOMIZE to meet your needs and budget.

 

RFC Yacht Charter owners, retired Army officers Tom and Karen Hallett are particularly well suited for burials at sea, including those with military honors.  They have served in ministry for nearly 30 years in both civilian and military sectors, and have the experience necessary to make your memorial sailing spectacular.

THE ANGEL DEL MAR

Like its owners, the Angel Del Mar is perfectly suited to ministering to you as you honor the life of your loved one, laying them to rest at sea.  The Angel is a luxuriously appointed 70' motor yacht, capable of carrying up to 12 guests to your loved one's scattering point.  You and your guests will travel in comfort and style enjoying the amenities of the Angel, and the scenery of the Saint Lucie Inlet.

All of our scattering packages include:

  • Transport upon the Angel Del Mar to and from the Harborage Yacht Club in Start, FL to a scattering point 3.5 miles off shore.

  • Time at the scattering point where you and your guests will be invited to scatter your loved one's ashes.  Following the scattering, the captain will circle the scatter point allowing time for final farewells.

  • Nautical chart commemorating the scattering

STANDARD BURIAL AT SEA

BASIC PACKAGE:  $1100 (Accompanied)  

                               $  450 (Unaccompanied)

  • Transport upon the Angel Del Mar to and from the scattering point 3.5 miles off shore (3 hours)

  • 30 minutes at the scattering point where you and your guests will be invited to scatter your loved one's ashes.  Following the scattering, the captain will circle the scatter point allowing time for final farewells.

  • Nautical chart signed by the captain, clearly indicating the latitude and longitude where your loved one was laid to rest.

ADD-ONS:

​

  • Memorial ceremony lead by ordained minister $200

  • Flower wreath for scattering point and/or flowers for attendees to throw in scattering area ($ Call)

  • Drone footage of event $150

  • Additional hours on board $250/hour

  • Catering ($ Call)

  • Transportation to/from yacht club ($ Call)

MILITARY HONORS

RFC Yacht Charters is a veteran owned company, that can provide military honors for your veteran or first responder's burial at sea.

​

In addition to the BASIC PACKAGE previously described, the following will be included:

​

  • The service will be led by a retired military chaplain

  • Flag presentation by uniformed flag detail

  • Taps

​

All of the previouly mentioned ADD-ONS are available as well as the following military specific items:

​

  • Firing volley $200

  • Flag shadow box with nautical chart $200 - $400 (est.)
